Our busy adult lives mean we spend plenty of time in front of screens, but usually not playing our new favorite game – WoW Classic.
While doing work I’ve kept my census/bank alt toon logged in on Herod-PvP. I’m using an addon called CensusPlus and have logged data for over 140 hours. This has amassed scans of 26,000+ players on the single realm and faction!
So which classes are the most popular? Which are lacking?
Herod is the highest population realm, but queues are becoming manageable with free realm transfers and vacation time being used up.
I’ll do a full analysis in the future as there are still a few unanswered questions:
- does layering affect this?
- how many bank alts are there?
- is there a night-shift only set of players?
For example, there are 688 level one warriors and we can assume these are mostly bank alts. There are 214 level one mages so one could reasonably say there are 400 extra warriors in the data set. This could imply warriors are not the most popular class, as shown below!

- Mage – 4221 total and 16%
- Rogue – 3477 total and 13%

(449 players who need to go outside)
- Mage – 100 total and 22% (thanks aoe farming)

As I said, I will do an in-depth analysis with even more data but the main takeaway is: when someone asks what class to roll, you say DRUID!
